Spanish for Foreigners

Can you imagine learning Spanish surrounded by volcanic landscapes, white-sand beaches, and vibrant villages?
This course is for you if you’re looking to learn Spanish through cultural immersion. At Erasmus Canary Islands, we’ve created a program that lets you combine learning with quality tourism on the island of Lanzarote.
Course description
During one week on the island of Lanzarote:
- You’ll practice Spanish in real, fun situations—from a stroll through the local market to an excursion through the vineyards of La Geria.
- You’ll take part in dynamic workshops focused on teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
- You’ll share experiences with other international teachers.
- You’ll immerse yourself in local culture: gastronomy, history, music… and a bit of surfing if you’re up for it!

Goals and activities
- Learn new words and structures to sound natural both with friends and in class.
- Dive into Spanish (and Canary!) culture with tapas, traditions, and good vibes.
- Discover creative ways to teach Spanish and swap tips with teachers from around the world.
- Fill your toolkit with useful resources—from games to great apps.
- Lose the fear of speaking in public with games, role plays, and plenty of laughs.
- Learn Spanish by connecting it to your life and interests always with a positive attitude!
Day 1
- Welcome. Coffee and Lanzarote sweets
Let’s get to know each other! Icebreaker activity and programme overview. - Spanish in context: Canary Islands Spanish.
- Introduction to linguistic features and typical expressions in spanish
Day 2
- Spanish on the street.
Role-playing real-life situations (ordering in a restaurant, asking for directions, etc.) - Theatre and creativity (Session 1): dramatization and theatre games in the classroom.

Day 3
- KAYAK: Visit to Marina Lanzarote by kayak and study of biodiversity from the water
- Sustainability and respect for the environment as cross-cutting values in education.

Day 4
- Spanish about wine and local products.
- Wine tasting: learning Spanish via wine-related vocabulary.
Day 5
- Evaluation and constructive feedback.
